Differences between home testing and legal testing

The difference lies in what you plan to do with these tests:

• Peace of mind: If you simply want to confirm your paternity, a home test will suffice. Home tests are used in situations where the tested individuals just want to satisfy their curiosity or reassure themselves.
• Legal uses: A legal paternity test requires adherence to a strict procedure, which includes the presence of a neutral witness unrelated to the family, the presentation of identification and various documents, all in the presence of health or justice professionals who will have the responsibility of identifying and overseeing the samples until they are sent to the laboratory. Fulfilling all these conditions makes the sample collection legal and usable in court. However, it should be noted that legal paternity testing is not possible in all countries, and it is your responsibility to ensure that your country's legislation allows it.

Do you want a paternity test that is admissible in court?
We do not produce certificates that serve as proof in court. However, regarding legal tests or simple home tests, once the samples are sent to the laboratory, the testing procedure used is the same.
Thus, if the legislation of your jurisdiction allows it, your paternity test can be admissible by a judge, if:

• The identification of participants is proven.
• The DNA samples are guaranteed to belong to the participants.

If your jurisdiction allows it:

• Make an appointment with a state representative (bailiff, etc.) to accompany you to a laboratory near you.
• The laboratory must perform the collections and send them to us
• The state representative must give you a certificate of the participants' identity and of the direct shipment to the laboratory.
